With family in South Africa – Phinda Mountain lodge

The lodge, and an impala on our way to breakfast

We couldn’t believe that anything could top Makakatana, but Phinda did.

Great accommodation, with a plunge pool at each room. super service and food (too much). We had awesome rangers, Andy and Eric, and their trackers, Sibu and Mr M. Very knowledgeable but also fun. Nothing was too much trouble.

Sibu and Andy
Mr M and Eric

Croc trying to eat a turtle

Leopard
Rhino
Cheetah
Special animals, Andy, Fiona, Jules and Nicky

And we had a song to sing at the end, to the tune “There is a tavern in the town”

The Cotton/Richardson Phinda song. April 15 2017

We’re all in Phinda having fun, having fun

Getting up each day before the sun, for the sun

With Alex, Charlie, Issy, Perd and Jack

Looking forwards, never back

Chorus.

This is the bestest game reserve, game reserve

precisely what we all deserve, all deserve

Thanks Eric, Andy, Sibu, Mr M

We’re really happy that we came

Nicky really liked giraffe, liked giraffe

And Perd the baby rhino calf, rhino calf

Andy thought he liked the cheetah best

But then the Leopard made contest

Lions for Alex, Jack and Fi, Jack and Fi,

But Jules says Rhinos are for me, are for me

Seems we love the buffalo the least,

Or the ugly wildebeest.

Charlotte also likes giraffe, likes giraffe,

Grandow’s flying warthog is a laugh, is a laugh

Issy gives the elephants her vote

And writes them all down in her note

We saw a turtle once did you, once did you

A crocodile was trying to chew, trying to chew

But we think his shell was far too strong

And he escaped before too long

We saw hippo, zebras too, zebras too

Spotted Kudu quite a few, quite a few

Jackal, mongoose and some jungle hare

Lots of impala over there.

We had breakfast, lunch and tea, lunch and tea,

And some roadside G and T, G and T

But by dinnertime we’re sure

To be hungry for some more.

This is Andy, and I’m Fi, and I’m Fi

We have daughters, one two three, one two three

Alex, Charlotte and our Issy boo

Can’t be happier, can you?

This is Nicola and Jules, Nick and Jules

Our two love to play the fools, play the fools

But young Perdy, and bro Jack

Hoping one day to come back

This is Grandow, Grandy too, Grandy too

Loving all this family crew, family crew

And there’s one thing we are certain sure

We’ll remember this for every more

This is the bestest game reserve, game reserve

precisely what we all deserve, all deserve

Thanks Eric, Andy, Sibu, Mr M

We’re really happy that we came

Lovely photos. Will be sharing them if you don’t mind?
It certainly was the trip of a lifetime. The kids have asked to go back in half term and next Easter!
