We lost a gentle man this week

Marion Wier passed peacefully a few days after his 74th birthday. He had a rare disease for which he had a successful bone marrow transport 15 years ago, but it came back with a vengeance and unresponsive to medication. He bore his illness with the grace that typified his life. His oldest son, Alex, wrote a lovely obituary http://www.legacy.com/obituaries/augustachronicle/obituary.aspx?n=marion-alexander-wier&pid=184754077&fhid=5407

Marion retired completely only last year from a long and respected career as a radiologist in Augusta, where my Marion had known him, and his lovely wife, Linda, for decades. The four of us became close friends and companion “golf tourists”, taking at least 15 trips together around the USA and overseas, as far away as Australia and New Zealand. The photo was in Bermuda in 2013.

We were privileged to be with his family and among the huge crowd of friends at his beautiful funeral on Friday.

Good memories of a special man. He will often be in our thoughts, and always in our hearts.

Thank you, Peter, for such a lovely remembrance. I was so happy to see you and the Princess at the
funeral and am so looking forward to seeing everyone in May. Much love and hugs, Linda

    • Linda Diney and I were very upset to hear of the demise of Marion. We are not known for exaggerations, but I can honestly say that we have never met a more friendly and genuine man who was generous.welcoming and a gentleman. We still talk re your “southern hospitality”.
We are very sorry that we will not see you in May but trust our paths will cross soon.
      Much love and great memories.
      Diney and Geoffrey Gibson.

I’m planning on our paths crossing again. Thank you for such sweet words about my Marion. I’m sorry we won’t see you in May but am so looking forward to seeing the rest of the crowd! Take care.
