Five years already!

My recent posts have been mainly about my books, now 5 about Fred the friendly snake, and my memoirs, “The tunnel at the end of the light”.

The latter tells about my career as a gastroenterologist (a specialist who helps patients to get square meals through round holes). I am reminded that I stopped doing that for a living exactly 5 years ago this week. I did my last endoscopic procedure (an ERCP) in May 2011, live on video transmission to our annual GI conference, the “Beach meeting” at Wild Dunes resort. It went well, despite being on Friday 13th!

View it at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vt2N22qLmuE

You can find some more of my endoscopic videos there if you have nothing better to do. And I have updated my medical bibliography at https://drpetercotton.com/medical-publications/

We seem to have been plenty busy enough over the last 5 years. I am still working halftime at the Medical University, doing some research, writing and teaching, and interfering in other areas. Nice invitations to speak around the country and overseas. Enjoying lovely Dewees Island and its remarkable community. Struggling with my golf game, but that is another story.

Marion said that she married me for life, but not for lunch. Better go….

  1. Read your medical memoirs. I found it excellent and mentioned the chapter on cricket to you before. I suggested you send it to the BBC radio 4 for serialisation in 15 minutes chunks.

Love to you both. Janice Crean
