Celebrating our 25th Wedding Anniversary

The last 2 weeks have been eventful!

We spent 2 nights at the wonderful Swag Country Inn in the North Carolina mountains. The purpose was to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary (September 28th), which we did in style, helped by 7 other special Deweesian couples.

The Swag (www.theswag.com) is an amazing place, the-swag-1

img_2096hosted for ever by an extraordinary lady, Deener Matthews. Her husband, Dan, is a well known Episcopal priest, who graciously agreed to help us renew our wedding vows, in a gazebo on top of the local mountain. Sunshine and lovely views. Few if any dry eyes. Sincere thanks to all.

Then we returned to Dewees, and hosted another party, for the island community and other local friends, some who have known us since before our wedding. They included dear friends Sue and Paul Edwards who happened to be visiting from img_2102Australia! We invited Lara Wilson to sing suitable songs.

She did so beautifully, accompanied by husband Andy. Memories, Summertime, Carmen, Evita, Streisand…..lovely

I spoiled the evening by singing “Maria” from West Side story, transcribed into “Marion”. A lovely celebration for my Princess.

And then, Hurricane Matthew came screaming up the coast, causing all sorts of damage. We evacuated to stay in Augusta with good friends Linda and Marion Wier. Happily Dewees was hardly touched.

Back on the island now enjoying the cooler autumn weather, along with visitor Dorcas Chapman, who was my personal secretary in London (until only 30 years ago).

We are lucky people

    Peter:

Congrats on 25th. delighted that the hurricane left things (relatively?)unscathed. Give Dorcas our best (from Stephanie and myself). Please share our e-mail address with her. We would love to hear from her.

    Best,

    Norman

  3. Hi Peter and Marion,

Y’all look great, especially Marion in her cream outfit and flowers renewing your vows. Totally charming.
My grandchildren are too old now for the annals of Fred the Snake, although they loved the first ones.
One is at Barts in the study of medicine, one aiming to go into politics, Tom is a music exhibitioner at Wellington, his sister Zoe a fine violinist ( they get it from Gerry), etc..

I will email you my news, all good.

Loved reading and seeing your celebrations.
